REIT Accounting Manager/Senior Manager

San Juan Capistrano, CA | Full-Time | $100K–$150K + Bonus + Equity

Ensign Services, Inc., is seeking a high-performing REIT Accounting Manager/Senior Manager to lead the accounting operations. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for managing close processes, ensuring GAAP compliance, reviewing third-party data, and collaborating across legal, treasury, and investment teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the real estate accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions for all properties in our portfolio.
  • Read and interpret complex lease agreements to ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Provide accounting support to Tax, Treasury, Reporting, Transaction and other departments, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Assist managing the monthly close process and review of quarterly and annual financial reporting packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the close and reporting deliverables.
  • Perform detailed reviews of accounting transactions, financial consolidation and intercompany eliminations, financial statements, and management reports across the Real Estate organization, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper financial statement classification of transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of transaction flow documents for intercompany settlements, and intercompany distributions and contributions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
  • Train, mentor, and develop real estate accounting team members, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Support debt compliance, cash flow projections, board materials, and audits
 
 

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of accounting experience (public accounting preferred) and prior people management experience
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and real estate accounting principles, including intercompany transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Advanced Excel skills required, experience in financial modeling and analysis is a plus.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a consistent track record of meet demanding deadlines while prioritizing competing tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop a team, fostering professional growth and accountability.
