Regional Safety Manager: The Regional Safety Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and company safety policies across multiple geotechnical construction projects. This position evaluates projects through site inspections, focusing on both leading and lagging indicators. The Regional Safety Manager provides leadership, consultation, and training on-site, and fosters strong working relationships with project teams, CJA employees, and clients. This role supports operations by mitigating risk, promoting a culture of safety, and implementing Condon-Johnson’s safety program. The position reports to the Corporate Safety Director. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct and/or review job site audits with Project Team Management
Advise and lead CJA employees on various safety-related topics, trainings, and compliance issues
Participate and support in weekly safety meetings, reviewing leading and lagging items
Participate in pre-construction and other job meetings to assist in safety-related matters and ensure compliance on job sites
Administer and review Site Specific Safety Plans and Job Hazard Analysis
Ensure work site staff have proper safety training
Facilitate new employee safety orientation
Lead incident investigation and reporting claims to the insurance company
Manage an injury until employee returns to full duty
Lead, prepare and present reports on accidents, root cause analysis, and incident investigations; track and report corrective actions
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
BS Degree in Safety and Health Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or Environmental Health and Safety
3 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience
Prior Field Experience preferred
OSHA 30-hour outreach training certification
CSP, CHST, or OSHA 500 certification preferred
Working knowledge of L&I, OSHA/EPA construction standards and EHS regulations and hazard control methods
Demonstrated ability to conduct EHS training
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to lead and train field staff effectively
Outstanding speaking, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
The ability to travel to various project sites within the Los Angeles region, including offices in Los Angeles, Ontario, and Laguna Hills, as well as job sites throughout the area
