As of the date on which this job advertisement is posted, the Company anticipates that the base hourly range for this role is $25/hour (undergrad) - $30/hour (rising senior).
Responsibilities
The Preservation team at April Housing is responsible for underwriting, developing, closing, and managing the construction of preservation and rehabilitation projects for one of the largest affordable housing portfolios in the country. As an intern, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting analyses that drive investment decisions on preservation and rehabilitation efforts, including pro forma analysis, market comparables, due diligence review, and funding availability
Assisting with internal status updates and other reporting to key stakeholders at April and Blackstone
Supporting the assembly of applications for tax-exempt bonds and low-income housing tax credit allocations
Tracking deal progress during the due diligence, application, closing, and constructions phases of development
Completing special projects for the Preservation team, including research on state-level affordable housing preservation tools/initiatives and the drafting of white papers
Tracking best practices and process improvement initiatives across the Preservation team
Qualifications
Here’s a bit about what your background should be:
Strong academic record with a genuine interest in exploring or continuing a career in affordable housing
Coursework in any of the following fields of study: architecture, real estate development, finance, urban planning, economics, political science, public policy
Education in other fields of study would be acceptable if combined with interest in affordable housing (development, finance, and/or policy)
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
A collaborative nature with good communication and interpersonal skills

Base Compensation Range:
$25.00 To $30.00 Hourly. This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of the Company’s base compensation range for this position.
