Our client is seeking an experienced Corporate Accountant to join our Real Estate Accounting team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the financial oversight of a significant portfolio of commercial and developmental real estate assets. Key Responsibilities
- Perform month-end close activities including journal entries, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Lead the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
- Assist in the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and provide detailed variance explanations.
- Apply professional judgment to maintain compliance with company policies and GAAP standards.
- Supervise and mentor junior team members, offering guidance on accounting tasks and career development.
- Support planning and coordination to ensure timely task completion across the team.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as FP&A, treasury, and tax to meet organizational goals.
- Drive continuous process improvement and implement best practices across accounting operations.
- Contribute to special projects including audits, compliance initiatives, and tax filings.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance with strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Real estate accounting experience is highly preferred (property management and/or construction).
- Experience in the construction field and/or a background in a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus.
- Experience in Yardi software – preferred but not required.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; ERP systems knowledge preferred.
- Familiarity with internal controls and risk mitigation processes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience working with multiple reporting units or business lines.
