Corporate Accountant – Real Estate

Our client is seeking an experienced Corporate Accountant to join our Real Estate Accounting team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the financial oversight of a significant portfolio of commercial and developmental real estate assets. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close activities including journal entries, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Lead the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
  • Assist in the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and provide detailed variance explanations.
  • Apply professional judgment to maintain compliance with company policies and GAAP standards.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members, offering guidance on accounting tasks and career development.
  • Support planning and coordination to ensure timely task completion across the team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as FP&A, treasury, and tax to meet organizational goals.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and implement best practices across accounting operations.
  • Contribute to special projects including audits, compliance initiatives, and tax filings.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance with strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Real estate accounting experience is highly preferred (property management and/or construction).
  • Experience in the construction field and/or a background in a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus.
  • Experience in Yardi software – preferred but not required.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; ERP systems knowledge preferred.
  • Familiarity with internal controls and risk mitigation processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with multiple reporting units or business lines.
